Super Wednesday 18th October 2023 "Process Safety Day" 10/18/2023

Super Wednesday

Dear All,

Process Safety Day ¿ Commitment to Process Safety

Process Safety Day (pdo.co.om)

The theme for PDO Process Safety Day is Commitment to Process Safety.

The expectation within Wells is that this is a commitment across departments and throughout the organization, both within PDO and all of its contractor community

Please use the reflective learning as part of the PS Day material to engage your teams at site with the intent of having an open reflective dialogue around Process Safety at your site.

Please use your own material to reflect on the following key themes:

    • Risk Normalization,
    • Management of Change,
    • Barrier Management &
    • Strength of Controls

It is essential that the conversations that take place reflect your own place of work, so please use your current WPS Risks, Bow Tie, Barrier Schematics and your last MOC to focus the conversation.

Share any observation with the supervisor of this session and please reflect your commitment and share any photos on the main PS Day link provided.

Musta¿ed

As you can see from the initial findings from the attached HSE flashes few of the Musta¿ed steps were missing which lead to the event happening. It is important that we ask open question for each of these elements so we can have an effective engagement with the crew carrying out the job. In the coming weeks we will be sharing some of the questions you can ask to the crew carrying out the task when you do your Musta¿ed Engagements. Let¿s focus on STEP 5 this week-Communicate.

Examples of Questions you can ask during TBT/Planning for each Musta¿ed element :

STEP-5:  Communicate

¿ ASK: Who is communicating with who during the job?

¿ ASK: Handover protocol: What needs to be discussed?

¿ ASK: Can you give any learnings from previous incidents?

Life-Saving Rules (LSR) Online Training and Declaration

To help our employees have a strong understanding of the updated set of LSRs, we are pleased to introduce the mandatory Life-Saving Rules Online Awareness Training and Declaration. This mandatory training is designed to provide PDO staff and contractors with a comprehensive understanding of the updated 9-Life Saving Rules and I-statements through a professional and interactive approach within a six-month period. Furthermore, the training will support employees to drive the change and implementation of the Life-Saving Rules and to apply them on their daily work routines.

The training will be automatically assigned to all PDO employees through the Al-Manar platform.

All employees are required to declare their understanding of the LSRs and their consequences management. To access the declaration link and supporting documents, please click here. Your participation in this training will not only ensure your own safety but will also contribute to creating a safer environment for your colleagues.

Note: please ensure to use 'Google Chrome' when accessing the link.

Should you require any additional clarification or support, please do not hesitate to contact the Worksite Hazards Management team (MSE13).
