Learning From Assurance
This week¿s Learning From Assurance is on Man Lost response. Please find attached PWR 8.7.3 `Road Safety & Man Lost¿.
It is essential that a detailed man lost procedure is available and understood by key personnel. Man lost drills must be regularly performed to ensure Journey Managers are fully aware of their roles and the procedure is understood. The drills also ensure IVMS data is accessible and emergency contacts are accessible.
Timely and efficient response to a Lost Man scenario is vital.
Each site shall ensure:
- The Man Lost procedure is available and understood by Journey Managers.
- Man Lost drills are performed at least once a year for each Journey Manager.
- All drivers are aware of the importance of call timings and adhering to the route on the JMP.
- IVMS data is accessible.
- The reporting/communication protocol is understood and numbers are correct.
- Verify emergency team response is timely.
- All lessons learned from Man Lost drills/events are logged and the procedures updated as required.
